One Crooked River |
||
| This
ruggedly beautiful region is in Redmond,
Oregon. The campground was located on the edge of a golf course with
its well groomed greens contrasting sharply with the reds and browns in
the cliffs surrounding the valley. |

The golf course was fascinating in its layout, almost wrapped around the valley floor with some very rough terrain cutting through it in places. The golf carts roamed back and forth along the ribbons of pathway, pausing before crossing the main road through the valley. |

The area is named for its beautiful crooked river, snaking around at the bottom of the cliffs it forms a sparkling necklace on as you look down from the heights. Can you see it being one of the ultimate water hazards? |

The bluffs outlined by the fading rays of the sunset were striking in their beauty. |

Wildlife was plentiful and deer were always nearby. They blend in so well you almost don't see them until they raise their heads from grazing. |

We enjoyed hiking along the top of the cliffs. This little flower was one of the more unusual ones decorating the desert floor. |

| Colorful robins enjoyed the greens along with the duffers. |

Shopping in the city of Redmond a few miles away was made more enjoyable by the hanging flower baskets found everywhere along the streets. Not far away were the cities of Sisters and Bend, Oregon. From the main highway you could see the Cascade mountains in the distance. With hiking, shopping, dining and camping on the edge of a golf resort, that time in the great outdoors was quite memorable. | |
